I believe people are responsible for stewardship of all we encounter. I believe each of us is created in the image of the Creator of the Universe and, as such, we are agents of continuing creation. As design and construction professionals, we have a special responsibility in this regard, because what we do every day has a tangible and visible impact on our communities and the world around us.
Favorite Vacation Spot and Why: Pawley's Island. We usually go in May, which works for me because I was not made for direct sunshine. This is family time, and my Dad and I usually compete to see if we can go all week without mechanized transport.
Pets: We have 1 dog, a Vizsla named Copper (which is Hungarian for birddog), 2 cats, and any number of fish at a given time. My girls are currently working on me for another cat and a pig. I'm lobbying for a goat to keep the grass trimmed in the back yard. To the best of my knowledge, information, and belief, downtown Bluffton currently does not have ordinances against farm animals.
Most Saturday mornings, you'll find me filling cracks in a 165-year-old house my wife Kim and I bought years ago.
Favorite Quote: “The place where God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet.” - Frederick Buechner.
What are you reading: I'm reading A Walk in the Woods which is about a guy hiking the Appalachian Trail (AT), because my oldest daughter and I want to do some section hikes on the AT this year. I also just started Heaven by Randy Alcorn because I'm going there someday.

CD that you can't live without: It's a tough call but I'd have to say it is either ?Are you Experienced? by Jimi Hendrix or 'Ah Via Musicom' by Eric Johnson.
Favorite Past time: Playing guitar is probably my favorite past time. I've been playing since I was 15 years old and have Fender Stratocaster and Martin acoustic. I learned to play from my father who plays a number of stringed instruments (guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, and mandolin), and I regularly play with the band at our church.
Favorite Vacation Spot and why: Although I've only been there once and I may never get to go again, Maui, Hawaii is my favorite vacation spot. Paula and I spent our honeymoon there and both agree it is one of the most beautiful and interesting places we've ever been. The mountains of western North Carolina would be a close second.
Favorite Sports Score of All Time: 63-17 (my fellow Clemson football fans will know why)

Most Saturday mornings, you'll find me hanging out with my kids while my wife goes to yard sales. I love it when she tells me how much we saved by her spending money. I haven't quite figured this one out yet.

Every Saturday is “Daddy-Pancake Morning” with either banana, strawberry or blueberry pancakes.
What does “going green” mean to you?
Going green is a change of lifestyle. Green is looking at every aspect of your
life and thinking how your actions can help better the environment. Each day
we may fail at some aspect but we can learn from it and do a better job next
time. At home, my family is working hard to minimize the use of our cars, to
reduce our waste of consumer goods, and to follow the ‘Three R’s’-
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Last book that you read? I figured I should put my desire to read to good use

“fiery” style, but I wanted to learn more so I picked up Sherman:
A Soldiers Life by Lee B. Kennett.

I was in college and I haven’t put this CD down since.

Last song you downloaded? This is embarrassing, but I downloaded MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This”. You see, I’m a member of the charter class of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, founded in 1988. The song was something of an anthem for our class, and I downloaded it to use as background music for a video I prepared as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the school’s founding.
Favorite quote? One of the universal rules of happiness is: always be wary of
any helpful item that weighs less than its operating manual.-- (Terry Pratchett,
Jingo)
Pets? We rescued a retired racing greyhound out of Florida named JC’s
Quick Pick. We call her Nikki for short. It’s an amazing (and scary) thing
to see a greyhound run within a few inches of you at about 40 mph!
